New Life Center: A Sanctuary in the Valley

A place of shelter, peace, and strength- New Life Center provides victims of domestic abuse with a true sanctuary in their steps towards healing. Men, women, and children throughout Arizona are given shelter, clothing, food, work spaces, play areas, community rooms, and most importantly, safety. One of only a few such centers in the state, New Life Center is continuously raising the bar in the trauma-informed care provided to individuals, while also focusing on state wide violence prevention and education initiatives. 

I was able to tour their brand new individual suites recently, and was blown away by the attention to detail and peaceful refuge they have created for victims. The building has been completely renovated, and now hosts 6 beautiful, private rooms, a sitting room, and a comfortable living room complete with a meditation space! In addition, New Life Center has been hard at work transforming their family casitas. In total, they have 110 beds available to victims of domestic violence. These rooms allow families to stay together, and provides careful touches such as pajamas, toys, backpacks, toiletries, and even pet supplies. Numerous community organizations and businesses help support all of the guests of the New Life Center- a beautiful example of the strength of community. Over 70% of their population are kids, and they work tirelessly to create stability (and fun!) in their lives while helping to coordinate school enrollment, doctor visits, insurance registrations, and more.

The education, resources, and foundations that New Life Center provides, in conjunction with creating a place that truly feels like a home, speaks volumes.
