Our Impact
We believe in what’s possible and help make it real.
Empower & Shine is built on bold dreams, deep compassion, and the belief that change can last. For 17 years, we’ve worked alongside local leaders and communities in Uganda to turn ideas into opportunities for people to thrive.

Growing with Shalom Junior Trust School
When Patty first visited Shalom Junior Trust School in Nakigalala, classes were being held in an old chicken coop. She met the school’s leaders, heard their hopes for the children, and that’s where the idea for a partnership began.
Since then, Shalom has grown building by building into a thriving primary school, and the community around it has grown too. With support from Empower & Shine and our donors, the school now has a computer lab, a library, boys’ and girls’ bathrooms, and a proper cafeteria and kitchen.
Now, together with the Rotary Club of Maya, we’re bringing another big idea to life: the Field of Dreams, a place for students to play, connect, and dream big. We look forward to unveiling it in April 2027.
Creating Opportunity Through Street Business School
Street Business School helps women build the confidence and practical business skills to start or grow a small business and create opportunities for their families.
Since 2021, Empower & Shine has sponsored Street Business School training for 2,802 graduates. Our work began in Uganda, and this year we celebrated our first graduates in Kenya. Seeing the program reach a new country was absolutely amazing.

Building God’s Will Preschool
In Mubako, a shared hope for young children became God’s Will Preschool. Working with Ronald Musabe and the Rotary Club of Maya, we helped create a place where children can learn and grow.
Keep Her in School PAD Project
The Keep Her in School PAD Project is our next big chapter in Uganda. By the end of 2026, we aim to provide reusable pad kits to 3,000 girls.
We’re also working toward reaching 31,000 girls with reusable pad kits and 31,000 boys with I Am an Honorable Man journals by November 2027. We want girls to have what they need to stay in school, and boys to grow up with respect, kindness, and responsibility.
