Last month, we traveled to Nakigalala, Uganda, for a moment we’ll never forget—the unveiling of the Field of Dreams at Shalom Junior Trust School.
The celebration was pure magic. The students and school leaders came together for an afternoon of heartfelt performances—singing, dancing, and sharing their gratitude in the most beautiful ways. Their energy filled the air with pride and excitement as they officially opened their new field—a space where dreams can now take flight through play, teamwork, and friendship.

As these photos show, the journey has been built brick by brick—through the hands and hearts of the students themselves, the “Conquerors.” Every brick they lifted, every wheelbarrow they pushed, represented more than labor—it was an act of ownership, pride,
and empowerment. They didn’t just watch this dream unfold; they built it.
The Field of Dreams is already a vibrant, functional space for students to enjoy, but this is only the beginning. Our vision is to take it to the next level with turf, creating a lasting, professional-quality field that will serve generations to come.

We currently don’t have any donors for this next phase, but we warmly welcome anyone who believes in the power of giving back and building brighter futures. Whether you just want to follow along, or contribute a tax-deductible donation through Arizona Community Fund, together, we can help these young dreamers rise up—because real empowerment comes from offering a hand up, not a handout.
At Empower & Shine, we believe change doesn’t happen overnight—it’s built brick by brick, through love, collaboration, and the courage to dream big!
