"Your story is not meant to be hidden. The light God placed in you was meant to guide someone else through their darkness."
— Jeff Mugongo

"In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in Heaven."
Matthew 5:16
This week's Quote of the Week comes from Jeff Mugongo, whose life is a powerful example of faith, resilience, and purpose.
Jeff spent much of his childhood in refugee camps in Tanzania, where his family waited nearly a decade for the chance to begin again. As a young boy, he helped support his family by herding goats and selling African donuts.
Life at home was difficult. His father was abusive and eventually left, leaving Jeff's mother to raise five children on her own with very little. What carried them through was faith.
Jeff credits his mother's strength, prayers, and trust in God as one of the reasons he is the man he is today.
After nine years in the refugee camps, Jeff and his family were resettled in Aurora, Colorado. He arrived in a new country without speaking English, entered seventh grade, and had to begin again in a world that felt completely unfamiliar.
But Jeff kept moving forward.
He learned English, graduated from high school, and earned a degree in social work because he understood what it meant to struggle and wanted to help young people facing hardship find a way forward.
Then life changed again.
A devastating motorcycle accident nearly took his life. During the long road to recovery, Jeff renewed his faith and gained a deeper understanding of the purpose God had placed on his life.
It was also during that recovery that he met the woman who would become his wife. Jeff describes her as "pure love" and credits meeting her as one of the greatest blessings to come from one of the most difficult seasons of his life.
Today, Jeff is living out his calling through Fellowship of Christian Athletes, mentoring and encouraging young people as they grow in faith, character, and purpose.
His story reminds us that our struggles do not have to define us. They can become part of the light we use to help others.
Thank you, Jeff, for sharing your story and reminding us to let our light shine.
